Be yourself
BE YOURSELF
Well, I choose to write this today because it applies greatly to the ladies at all times.
As I was debating on my mind on what to wear to church the following day, I heard a loud knock on my door, I opened to see who it was, lo and behold it was Jessica the borrower, she can borrow for Africa. I groaned and silently prayed she has not come to borrow money or foodstuff. Well, God answered, cos she has only come to borrow my pressing iron.
'Bridget, what are you wearing tomorrow?' She asked. 'I hope you can remember we were told to come in our best attire, being our sendforth.' She continued.
'Yes o, I was just debating on that in my mind before you came in.' I replied her. I then said, 'oya tell me what you want to wear maybe I can get inspiration from you.'
'Haaa, my sister, I can't wait for tomorrow morning o. I am wearing my embroidered butter coloured gini, with chocolate coloured acessories, DM go take tomorrow o.' Jessica replied. Gbagaun, rang the alarm in my head. 'Wow, that's so lovely' I quickly replied. In my heart i was thinking, I need to get something better than what she was wearing. She eventually left, and I immediately threw open my box and then emptied its contents on the bed. After a lot of picking and dropping, I eventually decided to settle for my French laced blouse with a gorgeous IBO wrapper with matching silver headgear, shoe and bag. I was happy with my choice cos everything is shouting money.
Early the following morning, I dressed up in my wonderful attire, feeling very proud of myself. U know that feeling of satisfaction you have when you are dressed up. I walked majestically into the Church, barely seeing the usher directinge me to my seat. I was slightly swaying to show off my hips. Oh, life is good, I said in my mind.
Few minutes later, a lady was ushered into the vacant seat beside me. Immediately I was distracted by her lustrous and rich perfume. Chai, my perfume cannot even stand by this ladies'. I thought. I decided to look up and check up her dressing. I did and all my pride came crashing down. Here was a lady dressed in a glittering golden gown, with black and gold headgear, shoes and bag. Her phone, purse, pen were all gold. I felt like crying. I was miserable. My clothes were like rags beside hers and I looked like a grandma.
Well, that's the end of the story. So many ladies find themselves in this situation. They are always competiting with others in dressing and all. We need to stop feeling intimidated by someone Else's dressing and be proud of ourselves. Stealing starts from there o. These kind of ladies throw their husbands into debt when they eventuly get married. Just because they want to keep up with others. Be yourself.
Happy Sunday.
