EMOTIONAL ISSUES
Either we want to admit it or not, we have been emotionally involved with someone one way or the other. Our 21st century youths call it ‘crush’. Either crush, or infatuation or emotional attachment, it all boils down to the same thing. To my own opinion and perspective, I would say being emotionally attached to someone is not a sin. I have observed that a normal female mind is wired and designed to appreciate anything beautiful and handsome. Be it a person or a thing.
Thus, when a lady sees a cute guy that has a deep baritone voice, plays the keyboard or saxophone well, dresses smartly, has a well set teeth and acts very courteously towards ladies, why won’t a lady unconsciously or consciously crush on him. But the sin comes in when he is the only one she thinks about, she bats her eyelids, acts overly nice and smiles more than necessary whenever she sees him just for her to get his attention. What I have come to discover is that, there is that tendency to be emotionally involved every stage of our life.
There is that guy she likes in primary school, there is the cute brilliant senior boy in secondary school, then after graduating, there is that new brother that just joined the youth choir from Lagos, and he has been the lead singer since he came, oh his voice!! Then you got admission to the university, and you begin to experience emotional conflicts because there are so many intelligent, handsome, cute and spiritual brothers to crush on.
Research and experience over the years has made me discover that this thing called crush and emotions do not last long. It wastes time and gets one distracted. Your object of crush gradually becomes the reason for going to church thus making one lose focus with God. Academic notes and textbooks become difficult to read because she is busy fantasizing and dreaming about prince charming. The G.P is affected, the spiritual life is deadened and the relationship with people is severed.
How can one then get over it?
I have been able to come up with these with years of experience. When such tries to come up, look out for the bad side of such a person that can get you pissed off, get yourself more involved in church activities, social activities with Christian friends, evangelism and you will be too busy to think about one guy like that. Be more prayerful.
Ladies, remember our hearts are kept for that one person that will eventually take us to the altar, so keep and guard it jealously. Lets make the best out of ourselves and shun off side distractions.
I stand out as a Godly lady, costly and virtuous.
I am kept in Gods palm, in the hollow of his hand.
I have a goal, a focus and a direction.
Where are those ladies making a gorgeous stand?
