GROUP WORK….ANNOYING
Well…. It’s been long since I did this, I’ve been kind of busy. When the department decides to bombard us with various courses in our final year, just for them to be justified that they taught us to some extent before graduating, we just have to manage the little time left available.      Today’s gist hen, I got the inspiration from a girl close to me. I was at the cafeteria eating when I suddenly heard my name; I looked up and saw Darasimi. She then came to join me at the table. Before I could even say hi, she started…
“Tolu, this my group members are annoying o, can you believe that out of about 10 of us in the group, I am the only one doing the run around. They are not even making any effort to ask how far or how to go about it. Me I cannot kill myself o. this is sha not only course I am doing that I will be typing from morning till night?”
She kept on talking and complaining while I kept at my meal, enjoying its delicacies. M not a bad child o, I was actually listening to her. But you know sometimes one must allow people to pour out and release their pent up emotions, so I allowed her. After a while she left and I started thinking. This group work true true sef, no be small thing. They will put you in a group and the only thing you will hear your group members say is “how much are we paying?” I will be like “pay for what, for a machinery to come and do sleepless nights browsing, collating, typing, racking the brains then do the wahala of printing and making photocopy for everybody” after all the wahala sef, some of them will still say, “oya present for us na” wetin someone never see for school.
I used to complain too, but as times went on, I learnt something very important. I have a goal, they don’t probably. I have a certain CGPA I am running after, they don’t. Anything they graduate with is acceptable. So why am I expecting seriousness from them? I should be the one taking it serious. So for any group work, I have nothing to complain for. I will only do the work to the best of my ability, present sef if asked to and get the mark I want. This will be to the advantage of my group members. I collect my money and even make some gains, thus gaining on both parts. So please tell me, why should I complain?
In this life hen, it’s just to bring out the best out of all situations. Complaints do not help; it only makes the job bigger to be done.
My advice to those set of people out there that will not come for any group meeting but can castigate any work done, stress the group leader to the core and even refuse to pay, the day nemesis will catch up on you hen…. It won’t be funny.
