Keep them with prayers
KEEP THEM WITH PRAYERS
I sat in church today and because I sat at the back,
I got a good glimpse of the whole church. I then
thought of writing this. I am sure many of us do
notice this very well. When messages are going
on, you will begin to see various expressions,
people with blank faces trying to figure out just
what the preacher is passing across, some are
deep in sleep, some have their eyes fixed on the
preacher but the mind is far away from the church
while just a few have their rapt attention fixed on
the preacher and on the word being sent across.
This can sometimes be due to the fact that the
preacher keeps reading grammars to the hearing of
the congregations and here we have peasants, not
so educated congregations that have come to
God’s presence to hear the powerful word of God
only for them to be bombarded with grammars and
phonetics.
At present era of the world, what we need is
neither grammars accumulated with the wisdom of
the world nor eloquence of speeches to impress
the congregations but Gods message passed
across in the simplest of words but backed up by
the spirit and power of God. The bible says ‘the
letter killeth, but the Spirit giveth life’. When the
spirit of God takes over, every single word is like
an arrow that pierces the soul. Acts 6:10 ‘and they
were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit
by which he spake’ This Bible verse strikes me
every time I read it. Stephen was preaching here, it
was not his eloquence nor his vast knowledge that
held the audience bound, but the wisdom and the
spirit of God by which he spoke.
Instead of we castigating, complaining and saying
bad things about some of our preachers that have
probably either lost Gods grace, lost the power or
lost Gods presence, let’s all direct our complaints
to God, and pray God to fill them afresh. Their
revival will also renew and revive our revival. When
you pray, I pray and everyone prays, lifting up our
holy hands, the spirit behind every lethargy,
dryness, and coldness will flee.
