KUDOS TO PRIMARY SCHOOL TEACHERS
‘Aunty, come and warn Michael o, he’s calling me olori nla’
‘Aunty, see Goodness, he has been slapping my head, and he’s saying my ogo is big’
‘Aunty, aunty, aunty, Roseline and john are fighting’
Chai, was I this troublesome when I was small? I doubt it. I could vividly remember primary school days. Though many in class, we were still cultured at least to some extent. But this days ehn..
For the past few days that I have been coaching some primary school students, I have always been coming back home with lost voice and headache. These teachers are really doing a great job. I really see no reason why they shouldn’t be paid more than even a lecturer. They are building up the children from the scratch, using all the strength, energy, voice, and power to train the child both socially and academically. They take their time to personally explain to each student, and make sure they all understand. Even parents, know how stubborn these children can be. Don’t you wonder why they are always quick to enroll them in school, drop them off and even pay for extra lessons? Can everything be because of book? Wetin them they learn?  At the end of all the stress, they will now be paid 10,000,  12,000 some are even as bad as 8,000,  5,000.
While, lecturers would stroll into a quiet class, give out materials to read up, summarize three chapters in 45 mins, leave and then collect 250,000 or thereabout in a month. Hmmm…oga oo.
Please parents, encourage these teachers by giving them tips sometimes, they are really doing a great job. Not that we’ll come and be complaining every time. A little tip or even words of encouragement would make them know their worth is known and appreciated.
Kudos to all primary school teachers out there.
I throway salute!!!
